A mainstay accessory to the silky naval-grazing shirts, hip-baring cut-out gowns and visible G-strings of the late 90s runways? Sunglazed skin.
With the return of the decade’s fashion comes the resurgence of that bronzed, fresh-off-the-yacht look – minus the UV damage (we know better this time around). “With skin at the moment, we are taking everything outdoors with the help of highlighters and bronzers,” says Terry Barber, M·A·C Creative Director of Makeup Artistry. “It’s that wonderful, vintage Americana – the ultimate California beach girl.”
Gleaming and translucent, this skin-centred look is less about piling it on and more about stripping it back. “It’s much more about visible skin and picking up champagne and gold tones on the skin,” says Terry. “It’s just sexier.”
